MINUTES OF ACADEMIC COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON 21.04.2011
The academic committee meeting for the month of April-2011 was held on 21st April, 2011 at 3.00 pm at RO Mumbai (Library Hall). The meeting was chaired by Shri PRL Gupta, Assistant Commissioner. Following officers / officials attended the meeting:-

The meeting started with the review of the minutes of the previous meeting of academic committee.
1. Result Analysis of Class IX & XI
(i) The Class-IX result show that performance in Maths and Science has gone down
No. of failures in Maths-97, Science-55 and S.St.-28, English-16, Hindi-2
Strategies to be planned especially for improvement of Maths & Science subjects
(ii) The Class-XI in Science stream low performance is seen in Physics-245,
Chemistry-208, Maths-77
(iii) The Class-XI in Humanities stream low performance is seen in Geography-33
(iv) The Class-XI in Commerce stream low performance is seen in Accountancy-67
(v) The Class-XI in Humanities & Commerce stream low performance
is seen in Economics-105
The undersigned directed to consolidate error analysis questionwise (supplementary exam. – Classes XI) in the following format –

2. Preparation of Study Material
Mumbai Region has been assigned to prepare the study material for Class-X; the same was assigned to two schools – 1) No.3 Colaba and 2) CME Pune and the same has been prepared by a team of competent teachers.

The undersigned acknowledged the efforts of – Mrs. Geeta Balgangadharan, Principal, KV No.3 Colaba and Mrs. Savithri Thyagarajan, Principal, KV CME Pune with the team of teachers for preparing study / support material for Class-X (Science).
The study material for classes X & XII prepared by different Regions for all the subjects will be distributed to all the schools by the end of June-2011.
3. Activities for Class VI to VIII (Science & Maths)
(i) Principal, KV BEG Pune with the team of teachers has designed activities for Classes VI to VIII in Science.
(ii) Principal, KV Army Area, Pune with the team of teachers has designed activities for Classes VI to VIII in Maths.
The undersigned appreciated the sincere efforts of – Ms. Geeta Rao, Principal, KV BEG Pune and Mr. Krishna Kumar, Principal, Army Area, Pune with the team of teachers for listing out and identifying activities to be performed by the students.
4. Identification of low enrolment
(i) The list of schools where enrolment has gone down
(ii) Reasons for low enrolment
The Assistant Commissioner expressed the desire for the improvement in enrolment and to identify the schools where the enrolment has gone down and reasons for low enrolment.
5. Split up of Spoken English syllabus
Split up of syllabus in Spoken English is prepared for classes I to VIII, the same is to be
followed in all the K. Vs. of Mumbai Region
The undersigned acknowledged the efforts of – Mrs. Debjani Bose, PGT (English), KV BEG Pune, Mrs. Aruna, HM and Mrs. Sangeeta Nair, PRT of KV IIT Powai for developing the split up syllabus for classes I to VIII.
6. Music Booklets
Workshop for Music was conducted at KV No.1 Dehu Road and split up of syllabus was prepared
for classes I to V and it is suggested all primary students should be given Music booklets. During
inspection of the Vidyalayas, it was noticed that the Music Booklets were not distributed to the
primary students.
Once again the Principals are instructed to issue the Music Booklets to all the students of primary
classes.

7. CCE registers
Schools are following different formats for maintaining scholastic and co-scholastic records. It is decided to design a common format for all the schools.
It is noticed that the schools were following different formats, to maintain uniformity, it is decided to have a common format to all the schools.
8. Improvement of handwriting
It was noticed that wherever cursive book were used, the handwriting of the students improved to a greater extent. It is suggested that this year also cursive books to be used for further improvement.
9. Summer Camp / activities
Summer camps to be organized during Summer Vacation atleast for 10 days in Fine Arts in Music, Dance, Drawing & Painting, Yoga, Sports etc. may be conducted and the report to be sent to RO after completion of the Summer Camp with list of participants and activities taken up.
10. Review of Mind Map Book
During last academic year Mind Mapping books were prepared and used for Class X & XII.
It is suggested to review the same for improvement of the results.
11. Computer Books
Computer books to be followed by all the schools of Mumbai Region.
12. Any other Point
Mr. Cherian George, Principal, KV IIT Powai requested the undersigned to relieve him from the duties of Cluster I/C of Mumbai-I Cluster as he doesn’t have office staff to assist.
The undersigned accepted his requested and suggested that the Principal, KV Bhandup will take over the duties of Cluster I/C for Mumbai-I.
